Lazin Animal Foundation

Terry Lazin always had a singular love affair with animals.

In a fast-paced career, which started after she graduated from law school, Terry worked or the U.S. Congress before being asked by the Governor of Pennsylvania to head up the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs. At 26, she was off and running a state agency with eight regional offices and 200 employees. Living between Philadelphia and Harrisburg, with her beloved husky-collie mix Lindsey, Terry led the charge against statewide consumer fraud. She also served as Commissioner on Pennsylvania’s Commission on Charitable Organizations, where she regulated charities that violated the spirit and letter of state philanthropy laws.

After government service, Terry and Lindsey moved to New York City, where she practiced corporate and real estate law. In a bold career move in 1988, she become President and CEO of Lazin Group, her national marketing and business consulting agency. She built a clientele of Fortune 500 corporate clients, which sought her innovative solutions for their marketing and sales challenges. Terry then founded her second major company, the NFL Players Golf Club, which owned an exclusive license to market all 1,800 active NFL Players in the area of golf-related events and promotions. She went on to own, promote, and stage trend-setting national and regional events. Terry chose Super Bowl to stage her largest annual golf production: The NFL Players Super Shoot-Out, a three-day event with more than 300 NFL celebrities and 25,000 consumer fans lining the fairways.

Terry also served as a strategic marketing and licensing consultant to the International Association of Fire Fighters, with more than 300,000 members in the U.S. and Canada. Her mission was to raise awareness, licensing opportunities, and revenue streams — all which were sorely needed after 9/11.

Throughout her professional life in the fast lane, Terry always thought that there would be plenty of time to create a way to rescue the furry creatures that had always signified unconditional love and true companionship for her. However, in the summer of 2009, the future changed drastically when she was diagnosed with terminal ovarian cancer. She quickly realized that she had to seize the moment to make rescuing and ehabilitating homeless animals a reality while time remained.

For the next six years, Terry fought on with her canine family including two treasured border collies named North and Dakota, and a sweet, rescued Australian cattle dog named Zoey. Founded in 2011, The Lazin Animal Foundation became an integral part of Terry’s life purpose and fighting spirit — as she battled her terminal disease and the unnecessary abuse, neglect, and often needless euthanasia of homeless animals who deserved a far better outcome.

In 2015, Terry passed away sharing her passion for hard work and unconditional love throughout her final days. Since, The Lazin Animal Foundation has marched forward honoring its mission and Founder through a committed group of family, friends and colleagues, and a growing network of animal welfare organizations throughout the nation.
